Prof. Jacky So

Dean of Faculty of Business Administration & BNU Chair Professor of Finance, University of Macau

 

Prof. Jacky So Yuk-chow is currently the Dean, BNU Chair Professor in Finance of the Faculty of Business Administration at University of Macau and Co-Director of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management.

Before moving to Macau in January 2010, Prof. So was the dean, and BBVA-Compass Bank Distinguished Professor of International Finance, of the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business at Texas A&M International University. He was also the Executive Director of the Academy of Entrepreneurial Finance. He was a professor of finance at the Economics and Finance Department at the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE) for more than 20 years and served as chairman of the Department for almost 10 years. Prof. So received his Ph.D. degree from the Ohio State University.

Prof. So was a consultant for many corporations and law firms. He was a visiting scholar and/or consultant of the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago, Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis, Office of the Small Business Administration (SBA), Washington D.C., etc.

Prof. So is a board member of the Global Finance Journal, Journal of International Business, and the Academy of Entrepreneurial Finance, etc. Prof. So’s research interests are international finance, banking, corporate finance, and risk management. He received more than half million dollar grant to support his research, teaching, and service activities.

In 2014, Prof. So was the visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Asia and Pacific Department and received the Education Leadership Award from the Asia’s Best B-School Awards 2014 held in Singapore. Prof. So is the first from Macao to receive this award.

In 2016, Prof. So was invited to be Research Fellow at Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. He is recently selected as a Distinguished Fellow of the International Engineering & Technology Institute and Co-Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Affinity Group (APAG) of The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Prof. So is the Co-editor of the Special Issue in the Journal of Risk and Financial Management, Risk and Financial Instability. He is also an editorial board member of the International Trade Journal.
